i'd say all profs are gone and some reworked one will be in, ofcoarse they resemble the current ones but at the same time hopefully will be differant too.

either that or have all 10 profs in

Mesmer will stay since it is the PVP's all time favorite.
Dervish will probably be remodeled into some class that emphasised more on shapeshifting and skills related to it.
Paragon will be gone since Day 1 their existence had been labeled an abomination among the PVPers.
Ritualist will probably be split over between Necromancer, Elementalist and Monk. The spirit summoning concept is very unique, but having a profession that solely specialised in it makes it pretty limited and predictable.
Assassin will stay. If it's not introduced during the initial release of GW2, it will be in later chapters or expansions.

Im realy dissapointed with the Paragon hate in this game he is my favourite char and will probably be the only one to get koabd.

Unfortunatly I agree. I dont expect to see Paragon in gw2 PVP players used them too well and PVE players don't have a clue. I expect to see Ritualists, Paragons and Dervishes to be dropped.

But the Necro would have the Degen Powers of a Mes.
And Smite Monks would have Domi-like abilites of Mes(Domi-like only, used to Counter Skills with a Smiting Feel not Emotional nor Spell-based feel).
Domi Skills like Empathy, Backfire, Mistrust and that.
But they would use Illusion to Shutdown Foes or Inspire Allies with a help with some Art Skills.
They'll use Musical Instruments but as Foci only, They'll still use Canes and Staves if you want.
Normally the mesmer should have nothing to do with Illusion Magic directly. Illusion Magic is merely practiced far more by typical Wizards and Rogues.

The Mesmer should, like from what his origin of his name comes from be a profession, which uses Hypnosis and magic Spells, which lullaby the mesmers's foes into sleep. Then the Mesmer dominates the Dreams of his victims by implementing Nightmares into them to attack the Soul of the victim direct.

The Name for the profession Mesmer comes from the word "mesmerism" which has its origin from the science of hypnosis.
The first person, who discovered hypnosis, was the German "Friedrich Anton Mesmer, also being called Franz"
From his Back Name come the origin of the english word of "mesmerism" which is used for hypnosis.

Hypnos was the Greek God of SLEEP...
So when we look at thsoe facts, the concept of the mesmer was from the begin on a big FAIL

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franz_Mesmer

Instead of being an Illusionist, the Mesmer should have been a Hypnotist, what is somethign totally different, than an Illusionist.

PS: thats what I did also at my version for GW2 profession chart before:

Put Mesmer in, yes, but changed their concept to hypnotists and the part of Illusion Magic I#ve put to the Oracle. Would i've had implemented also the harlequin, even that profession would be far much better to be the Illusionist for GW2, because Clowns/Harlequins make nothing else, then only Illusions, they are the real masters of Illusions

Well that wouldn't work would it ?

In real life you cant hypnotise someone who doesn't want to be hypnotised. No matter what these magic shows tell you :P

I hope assassins go.

I have a feeling that GW2 is going to be primarily PvE. Assassins arn't that good at PvE besides farming/soloing and who wants a tank that doesn't have 80AL?

dervs can tank with 70 al, and sins were never meant to be TANKS, they are spike characters, do you ever see an assassin charge straight into the frontlines of an army battle in the movies? NO YOU DO NOT.

Dervs, Sins, Rits, and Paras, perform specific jobs, and their trademarks
(self buffing enchants/scythe, extreme spike damage, spirits, and chants) can and will most likely be reworked

I have a feeling that the trademark of their armors will also remain- derv's hood, rits covering their eyes, etc...

This thread has kind of become a rant for people that do not like a specific class, due to not playing it or w/e.

Ok, let's say I'm the whole A-Net team, and want to design GW2.
---------------------
I promise to add races, cool. Now what's the point creating races without specificities? And what's the point creating races when jobs are the same for everyone? I mean, I will wast time to create a background for each race, a culture for each, and giving them the same? oO
-------------------

So basically you can't think with the GW1 mind. It can't work the same. I see something like this:

Charr:
Warrior
Archer
A ritualist like class, based on summoning and healing
shaman(fire oriented), like a mix between nuker and debuffer.

Asura:
Archer
Magician
Mecha?
etc, etc.

I personally believe that gw2 will be like this instead of a simple: take jobs from gw1 and chopping around.

I don't think ANet mentioned classes being limited based on the race you choose, though lots of people will choose certain races for certain classes just as they make sense (charr elementalist, norn warrior, etc).

Didn't want to take up space quoting the entire post, but I agree 100%. A lot of people are so oriented to what is now that they can't step back and see the big picture.

Not only will there be races, with race specific capabilities, but it has also been mentioned that the whole skill bar concept will be changed, and that skills will work in a different manner, perhaps having different abilities depending if one is walking, jumping, swimming, etc. (can't find it now, but it was mentioned in one of the interviews with ANET devs).

The best thing to do is to not have any preconceived notions of what profesions will, or won't be in GW2. The past has shown that preconceived notions lead to disappointments, and a lot of QQ'ing in these forums.

Of course, because they are still in pre-pre-alpha, and mentioning something too early will create unnecessary hype.

And for the moment, we can only guess. Based on what we know, the most logical way to combine races and job is to create race based jobs.

It looks like WOW? Of course, in fact, it looks like every game having races It may not be the most original, but it's the best working one for the moment.

I hope that A-Net dev are 10 times smarter than me so they can create something far more flexible:
ex: having 10 mains attributes and 30 secondary attributes and a limiting number of attribute points. Each race can only access to 7 mains and 20 sec. So there are basically no class but only combos that works well.

LESS COMPLEX?! One thing I hate is when a game is dumbed down to appeal to idiots. I hope they will not be as heavily dumbed down as that sentence seems to imply - remember, ANet needs a reputation of clever skills, and making everything simple will make our opposition think GW is for stupid people.

I seriously hope they don't get rid of ranger or mesmer. Those my faves.

I don't know, I could see them getting rid of paragons because many people say they're too powerful. I'm indifferent here.

Assassins though, I could never get into playing them, so I wouldn't care if they got rid of them. But I know lots of people like them and nothing against them, they just get annoying. haha

Personally I think they should keep the professions that make the game unique, that other MMORPG's don't have. That would include the mesmer. Things like the ranger, warrior, monk, and elementalist seem to be in almost all MMORPG's so I could see them either kept or kicked for variety.

But all in all, as long as they keep the ranger, I'll be happy.

At the end of the day you cant rule out a profession 'cuase you dont like them really

100% agree, GW wouldnt be what it is without its complex interlinking of skills, i mean [skill]Heal Party[/skill] Without [skill]Healer's Boon[/skill]...no thanks

or [skill]Frenzy[/skill] Without [skill]Healing Signet[/skill] well...err...forget that one

Id hate to say it (as im not an ursan hater tbh, I think it has its place, mainly DoA) but a set of simple skills that dont really rely on each other...yeah thats ursan there

I think that hit the nail on the head, really this is about what profession brings the least to GW, That includes not only its skills and personallity - but its usage too. The proffesion may be really bad, but if enough people play and enjoy it, what right do you have to say it should be axed?

oh and on the lore side....im sorry to say that it will most likely be the canthan professions...bloody dragons destroying my fave campaign ='[

You are doing it wrong.

Just add [skill]Mending[/skill] and you are covered & ready to smash everything in front of you!
